Got my lines marked at half a mile. Talked the family into running it with me. We stretched really well and started off. I made it to the half mile mark and turned around hadn't stopped yet but damn, my lungs were on fire. I ran for another quarter mile and then my first walk session. 45 steps too damn quick, and run. About 50 yards from the finish mark I walked again. It has been a long time but I am proud. 11.2 minutes even with the walking. Cool down walk was 2 tenths of a mile.

Into the house after My wife, My 16 year old and my 7 year old finally make it back.

30 sit ups each. Then a stretch for more cool down and hoping I don't die before tomorrow.

Tomorrow is a walking day. I will have from 5 to 6 to do the same mile walking. A brisk walk should be good on the second day.

I'll let ya know how my body feels in the AM when I get up for the stretch.

The day I signed on

Well I signed on to do a 5k run in 5 weeks today. My excercise over the past 8 years has been mowing the grass, and fishing. I did coach softball, but notice I said coach and not play. So today I have been studying training methods for the 5k, well during lunch any ways. I am going to setup my training schedule today and see how it goes. I will post all training and diet and other excercise here. If I can you can.

Height: 6' 0"
Weight: 235 - 240
Determination level: Very High
Smoke:1 - 1.5 packs a day

First order of business is to mark off quarter mile increments on the street in front of my house. Then I will try to just get to it, stretch, run a little then walk a litle and work my way in 4.5 weeks(need to rest a couple of days before the actual run) to 3.1 miles. My goal is 30 minutes without a heart attack.

Well this is the first blog post so wish me luck.
